Satellite Explorer

Watch AI data centers get built. Pick a site to scrub through its satellite imagery alongside the capacity each company disclosed at the time. Sites appear here once their location is confirmed precisely enough to frame, and each capacity disclosure brings a construction update.

Satellite View of AI Data Center Construction

The Satellite Explorer pairs dated satellite imagery with Ziven's standardized capacity data, so you can watch an AI data center campus get built over time. Pick a site, scrub the timeline, and each capture shows the facility as it looked on that date alongside its energized, under-development, and potential megawatts. Imagery comes from dated archives, primarily the Esri World Imagery Wayback basemap, with USDA NAIP aerial captures and licensed imagery for some sites and dates; capacity figures come from the same sourced dataset that powers the AI data centers page and each site's capacity history. Timelines are offered for sites with confirmed precise coordinates, from hyperscale campuses rising in Texas to converted Bitcoin mining facilities, so the construction progress you see always matches the disclosed numbers on that date. The Satellite Explorer is included with Ziven Professional and API memberships.

Ziven's Satellite Explorer shows dated satellite and aerial captures of each covered AI data center campus on a timeline. Stepping through the captures shows land clearing, building shells, and new data halls appearing, with the capacity the operator had disclosed on each date shown beside the image.

Each capture in the Satellite Explorer is an archived image of the same campus taken on a known date. Moving from an early capture to a recent one shows cleared ground turning into foundations, building shells, substations, and cooling equipment. Any two captures can also be compared side by side with a wipe slider.

For every capture date, the Satellite Explorer shows the site's energized, under-development, and potential megawatts as the operator had disclosed them on that date. The figures come from Ziven's sourced data center capacity dataset, so the construction visible in the image can be checked against the company's own numbers.

New captures are added whenever the source archives publish them. Esri releases new World Imagery Wayback versions throughout the year, USDA NAIP flies each US state on a rotating survey cycle, and licensed high-resolution captures are added for selected sites. Every capture carries the date it was acquired.

Most captures come from the Esri World Imagery Wayback archive, which preserves dated versions of Esri's world imagery basemap. USDA NAIP aerial photography and licensed high-resolution imagery from Vantor cover additional sites and dates. Ziven pairs each capture with the site's capacity data on that date and does not modify the imagery.

The Satellite Explorer covers AI data center campuses run by publicly traded companies tracked on Ziven, including sites operated by IREN Limited (IREN), Applied Digital (APLD), Core Scientific (CORZ), Cipher Mining (CIFR), Riot Platforms (RIOT), TeraWulf (WULF), and Hut 8 (HUT). Coverage grows as more sites gain confirmed precise locations.

The Satellite Explorer only includes sites whose exact location is confirmed. When a company's disclosures only place a site in a city or town, imagery centered there would show the wrong patch of ground, so the site stays out until its precise location is verified.

Ziven Professional and API memberships unlock every dated capture for every covered site, side-by-side capture comparison, and the disclosed capacity status on each capture date. Without a membership, the hub lists the covered sites and each site page shows a locked preview.
